J Murphy & Sons Expands Site Storage on National Grid Project with Custom Zappshelter Extension

The Company:

J Murphy & Sons (Murphy Group) is a leading global, multi-disciplined engineering and construction company and a highly valued, returning customer. The team required an immediate, robust storage solution to support a major National Grid power project at their site in Iver, Buckinghamshire.

The Challenge:

Working on critical national infrastructure demands efficient and reliable protection for equipment and materials. As the scope of their National Grid power project in Iver expanded, Murphy Group found that their existing 10m x 6.1m (20ft) Zappshelter was no longer large enough to handle their on-site storage requirements.

They needed to significantly increase their covered footprint to keep project materials safe from the elements. All while maximising the return on their original investment. The challenge was to find a seamless, cost-effective way to scale up their storage capacity without disrupting the existing site layout and facilities.

The Solution:

Because Zappshelters are modular by design, we were able to quickly extend the existing Zappshelter rather than starting from scratch. We supplied a brand-new 10m wide x 12.2m (40ft) long Zappshelter extension framework to align with their existing structure.

To ensure maximum weather protection and structural integrity, we manufactured a single, continuous 18.3m (60ft) long Zappshelter cover to span across both the old 10m x 6.1m frame and the new extension. To further reduce costs and waste, the installation successfully incorporated the client’s existing rear full end-wall.

Both the newly manufactured main cover and the existing end-wall were fully personalised with Murphy Group’s branding, ensuring maximum visibility and a highly professional site appearance.

The Result:

By choosing to extend rather than replace, J Murphy & Sons successfully transformed their original 10m x 6m shelter into a massive 10m x 18.3m dedicated storage facility.

The clever reuse of their existing framework and end-wall minimised environmental waste and lowered overall project costs. The new, fully branded structure not only keeps their National Grid project materials safe, dry, and organised, but it also stands as a proud, highly visible testament to Murphy Group’s commitment to quality site infrastructure.
