Creating a Covered Site Briefing Area with Zappshelter: How Waitings Ltd Beat the Weather in Stoke-on-Trent.

The Company:

Waitings Ltd is a well-established civil engineering, pipeline and plant hire specialist operating across the UK. Known for handling major infrastructure, wind energy and marine projects, they know firsthand how important it is to have a properly equipped site. For a new major project in Stoke-on-Trent, they needed a practical, reliable setup to keep their on-site team operating smoothly from day one.

The Challenge:

When starting a new, large-scale project, getting the initial site setup right is critical. For their Stoke-on-Trent site, Waitings Ltd urgently needed a dedicated briefing area where the team could gather, review plans, and run morning toolbox talks out of the wind and rain.

They required a structure that could be deployed quickly without laying new foundations, with the option to relocate it, as business needs change. It also needed to integrate seamlessly with the standard shipping containers they already planned to have on-site, ensuring the team had a comfortable, protected space right as the project commenced. Importantly, the structure needed to meet the high safety and professional standards that Waitings is known for.

The Solution:

“Mahala” is a container-mounted Zappshelter setup who is the perfect fit for the site’s layout and requirements. By utilising Waitings’ own shipping containers as a base, our team was able to provide a highly effective, fast-to-install covered area.

The installation included:

  • Two 10m wide x 12.2m long Zappshelters
  • Full rear-end walls to block prevailing winds and rain
  • Complete mounting kits and brackets to secure the shelters safely to the customer-provided containers

The Result:

Mahala was deployed quickly, giving the Waitings team a dedicated, dry space to coordinate their daily operations. Making use of their existing shipping containers sped up the overall installation process.

Ultimately, the Stoke-on-Trent site now benefits from a durable, weather-protected hub. It keeps team morale high and ensures essential daily briefings go ahead comfortably, no matter what the British weather throws at them.
