Atlas Copco Rental Expands Workshop Capacity and Boosts Staff Morale with Zappshelter

Atlas Copco Rental is a leading provider of temporary industrial solutions, specialising in compressed air, power, flow, nitrogen and cooling equipment. Operating across the UK and globally, they are committed to delivering agile and reliable rental solutions to keep their clients’ operations running smoothly.

For the development of their busy site at West Pitkerro Industrial Estate in Dundee, Scotland, Atlas Copco Rental needed a reliable and fast solution to increase their undercover footprint. Zappshelter was chosen to deliver a custom project to meet this exact requirement.

The Challenge:

In the equipment rental industry, having sufficient workshop space is critical for maintaining and servicing machinery efficiently. Atlas Copco Rental was facing a significant shortage of workshop space at their Dundee facility, a problem that was limiting the site’s overall capacity and throughput.

This lack of space meant that essential maintenance on vital equipment, such as generators, often had to be carried out outdoors. As a result, employees were exposed to the harsh Scottish weather. The cost of doing nothing was high: not only was it slowing down the maintenance process, but it could also result in poor staff morale. They needed to solve this problem quickly to protect their team, improve working conditions and maximise their operational capacity.

The Solution:

The solution was a bespoke Zappshelter, customised to the site’s layout and requirements to serve as a dedicated generator workshop. Mounted to create an ideal, secure working area, it immediately provided much-needed covered space.

The installation included:

• One 12m x 12m Zappshelter
• A full end wall

To handle the infamous Scottish weather, the addition of the full end wall was fitted to the shelter, offering an ideal solution for driving wind and rain.

The Result:

The results speak for themselves. With a dedicated, dry generator workshop now in place, Atlas Copco Rental has successfully expanded the Dundee site’s capacity. Crucially, their workers are no longer battling the elements, leading to a significant boost in staff morale and overall productivity.
