CPL Homefire Protects Fuel Products from the Elements, Improving Quality and Efficiency

The Company:

CPL Homefire is the UK’s leading manufacturer and supplier of smokeless fuel and kiln-dried firewood. Part of the CPL Industries Group, Homefire specialises in producing high-quality, cleaner-burning solid fuels for homes and businesses. Homefire operates multiple sites across the UK, supplying fuel through retailers, direct delivery, and its network of depots. 

The Challenge:

Homefire needed a fast and cost-effective solution for undercover storage at their Bungay, Chard and Ilkeston sites. Storing coal and fuel in the open left materials exposed to the elements, which could impact product quality. Traditional buildings would require significant time, expense and planning permission, making them a less than desirable choice. Homefire needed a durable, adaptable alternative that could be deployed quickly without major groundwork.

The Zappshelter Solution:

Zappshelter has been a longstanding supplier to the CPL/Homefire Group, providing over 20 shelters to date. Homefire recently added three more Zappshelters to their sites, each measuring 10m wide by 12.2m long. Mounted on 40ft shipping containers, these shelters provided instant, reliable storage with minimal disruption.

Each shelter was enclosed at the rear, offering protection from wind and rain while maintaining easy access for loading and unloading. The container-mounted design meant no groundworks were required, allowing for fast installation and immediate use.

The Result:

With the new Zappshelters in place, Homefire now has robust, weatherproof storage at three key locations. The shelters have helped to protect fuel products from the elements, ensuring consistent quality and reducing waste. The quick deployment allowed Homefire to expand its covered storage without the delays and costs associated with traditional construction.
