Reducing Material Moisture Levels for O.C.O Technology with Zappshelter

The Company:

O.C.O Technology specialises in carbon capture and the production of sustainable construction materials. Operating from their facility at East Wretham, Norfolk, they are dedicated to transforming thermal residues into innovative, carbon-negative aggregates. To maintain the highest quality in their products and ensure consistent manufacturing, effective and weather-protected material management is crucial to their daily operations.

The Challenge:

Moisture control is a critical factor in O.C.O Technology’s manufacturing process. When storing materials outdoors, exposure to the unpredictable British weather can significantly increase moisture levels. This excess moisture not only complicates the handling of raw materials but can also negatively impact the overall efficiency of their production lines. O.C.O Technology recognised the urgent need for a robust, reliable undercover storage solution to protect their bulk materials from the elements and keep moisture levels to an absolute minimum.

The Solution:

To combat the weather and protect their valuable assets, O.C.O Technology chose to invest in a premium Zappshelter system. We supplied and installed a 10m wide x 12.2m long Zappshelter at their Norfolk site. To maximise protection against driving rain, the structure was partially enclosed at the rear with a durable end wall. Demonstrating the versatility of the system, their Zappshelter was mounted directly to a precast concrete block bay, which was supplied and constructed in advance by the client.

The Result:

The newly installed Zappshelter has provided O.C.O Technology with a dedicated, highly effective undercover storage area. By keeping rain at bay, the shelter actively reduces moisture levels in the stored materials. This ensures a much more consistent, dry feed for their processing equipment, ultimately minimising handling difficulties, reducing downtime and benefitting their overall operational efficiency at the East Wretham site.
