Speedy Services Secures 24/7 Weather-Proof Operations for New Events Depot with Zappshelter

The Company:

Speedy Asset Services Limited is an existing and highly valued client, renowned as a leading UK provider of tools, equipment and plant hire. Beyond standard construction equipment, Speedy operates specialised distribution hubs for events. These depots focus on supplying the infrastructure needed for the live events and festival industry, supporting everything from major music festivals like Glastonbury to sporting events and local county shows.

The Challenge:

The events season operates on large scale, tight deadlines. When Speedy Hire decided to open a new events depot in Nuneaton, a highly strategic, central UK location with excellent motorway access, they needed to be operational immediately. Waiting 12 to 18 months to build a permanent steel warehouse was not an option.

They faced a lack of covered space, which posed multiple operational issues. Event equipment, such as tower lights, generators, electrical cabling and premium welfare units, is highly sensitive to the elements. Equipment returning from festivals requires pressure-washing, inspection and testing before being dispatched again.

With logistics operating 24/7, Speedy Hire urgently needed a dry, covered space to prep equipment, store high-value assets and allow crews to safely load flatbed trucks and articulated lorries without battling the weather.

The Solution:

To overcome these challenges, Speedy Asset Services chose to hire a bespoke Zappshelter configured to their requirements. The solution allowed them to create a large, weatherproof space in a matter of days, rather than months.

The installation included:

• One 6m wide x 6.1m (20ft) long Zappshelter
• A rear full end-wall for maximum weather defence
• A front strip curtain to allow easy vehicle and personnel access while maintaining a dry interior
• One standard 20ft container to act as a secure base
• One 20ft office/toilet container to provide on-site welfare and administrative space

The Result:

Speedy Asset Services has successfully established a weather-proof hub to store, prep and distribute festival equipment from the centre of the UK. The Zappshelter’s high clearance allows transport lorries to reverse straight under the canopy, ensuring crews can load and strap down equipment safely and efficiently, day or night, without getting soaked.

Additionally, the Zappshelter serves as a dedicated, covered “prep and wash” bay. Depot staff can now turn muddy festival equipment around swiftly, completely unhindered by the weather outside.
