Iron Titan Testimonial 2025

Zappshelter Deployed on Salisbury Plain for British Army’s Exercise Iron Titan 2025

The Client:

21 Engineer Regiment is a highly specialised unit within the British Army. Its primary focus is ‘Light Role Close Support’ engineering, providing critical combat engineering support that enables the Army to live, move and fight effectively within its area of operations.

The Challenge:

Combat power is useless without the sustaining complex web of engineers, mechanics, medics and logisticians working behind the scenes. Building on the success of the 2023 iteration, Exercise Iron Titan 2025 on Salisbury Plain was a continuation of the British Army’s focus on combat sustainment and enablers, dedicated to testing the Field Army’s “How We Fight” directive under modern, high-intensity warfare conditions.

Zappshelter was selected to serve as a critical Logistics Node during the exercise.

The Solution:

‘Plan A’ was to construct the logistics node from four 20ft shipping containers –  which were already being used to transport equipment for the exercise – utilising a Zappshelter to enclose the containers to form a sheltered working and storage area. Last-minute logistical issues left these containers unavailable. Demonstrating the versatility of the system, the team quickly shifted to ‘Plan B’, which was sourcing alternative shipping containers locally at short notice – proving the flexibility of the Zappshelter system.

The installation consisted of:

  • One 12m x 12m Zappshelter container canopy.
  • Engineered for rapid deployment without specialised infrastructure, this setup featured our signature green Taurinox fabric – blending into the military environment – and our advanced, no-weld frame system. Because the framework can be assembled securely without hot-work or welding, it allowed the regiment to erect a robust, weather-proof tactical hub in a fraction of the time required by traditional structures.
  • Even though fast to erect and then relocate if needed, Zappshelters are engineered to permanent building codes, meaning they can stay in-situ, for years if needed, without the need for a regular inspection or monitoring regime, reducing the administrative and maintenance burden.

The Result:

The pivot to Plan B proved to be a resounding success, demonstrating that the Zappshelter system can adapt flawlessly to unpredictable logistics and operational environments. Sourcing local containers and pairing them with the 12m x 12m Zappshelter successfully established a resilient, weather-protected Logistics Node when and where it was needed most.

The exercise effectively stress-tested the unit’s sustainment capabilities under pressure. By providing reliable cover for critical supply chains, equipment management, and engineering workflows, the temporary structure ensured that the 21 Engineer Regiment could successfully facilitate frontline combat enablers and keep complex military operations moving without disruption.
